Matthew 14:22-36 (NLT). 22. Then he told his disciples to get in the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, because he would come to them after he had sent the crowds away. 23 When they had all gone, he went up on a mountain by himself to pray. 24 It was getting dark, and the disciples were already far out on the lake, but they were slow to make progress because of the strong wind and the waves. 25 As night fell, Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. 26 They cried out in fear, thinking it was a ghost. 27 He reassured them, saying, “Don’t be afraid; it is I.” 28 Peter called out, “Lord, if it is you, tell me to come to you on the water!” 29 Jesus called out, “Come!” 30 Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But he realized that the wind was blowing hard. He was terrified and began to sink. He shouted, “Lord, help me!” 31 Jesus stretched out his hand and pulled him out of the water. “Oh, you doubter!” he said to him. 32 As soon as they got into the boat, the wind stopped. 33 The others worshiped Jesus and said, “You are truly the Son of God!”
